Originally from rural northeastern Minnesota, growing up around more nature than human creation, fueled a love for the outdoors, for the natural world. Snowboarding, skateboarding and bmx inspired me to shoot images of humans pushing themselves in the environments they had around them and the environments they went in search of. Now living in Salt Lake City, next to the Wasatch front, and only a hop and a skip away from so many different landscapes, with so many different people and stories to tell, I'm even more inspired.
Visual interpretation of our surroundings shapes our world, and to me, has always been one of the most interesting ways we experience life. Having always found imagery one of the most fascinating and profound forms of communication, becoming a photographer was inevitable.
Today images are saturating our experience, flooding every medium we use, but still as important as ever in telling stories and communicating emotion, connecting us to each other and everything else. Creating some of the images, and being in the right place at the right time to document the rest is what drives me. It's an opportunity to be involved in human experience in a way that also expresses our own imagination.
Capturing images is only part of the journey, the people and experiences along the way makes being a photographer......fulfilling, meaningful, continually inspired.
